2024 ADK Christmas on Main Street
Thanksgiving Weekend, Nov 29—December 1, 2024 Old Forge, NY
OLD FORGE – The Central Adirondack Association again launches the holiday season Thanksgiving weekend with An Adirondack Christmas on Main Street. Neighboring Adirondack communities of Old Forge and Inlet take on Hallmark card personalities for the season, ringing in the festival Friday, Saturday and Sunday, November 29-30 and December 1, 2024. Black Friday is Bright Friday in the Central Adirondacks, with family activities and shopping providing a refreshing alternative to urban mall madness and it’s happening all weekend. There’s so much to see and do, and most of it is free. Families have the opportunity to visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus at various locations each day, including after the Main Street light parade Friday evening when Santa lights the community Christmas tree. Other family activities include free horse drawn wagon rides, a candy cane hunt, a reindeer run/walk up Main Street and a movie matinee, build-a-bear crafts, and a fire and smoke dancing troupe Saturday evening at Point Park. The fire dancers will also perform brief sidewalk shows on Main Street. New this year is the First Annual Jingle Bells Dash and Splash on Saturday at Woodcraft Camps just north of Old Forge. Participants may choose either a 2K or 4K Trail Dash/Walk. The most adventurous may elect to then finish with a “Polar Plunge” into the lake! Details are available at www.skireg.com/7840. Families are invited to step away from the Christmas shopping chaos and enjoy an Old Tyme Family Christmas in Old Forge where family traditions still matter. The urban mall sales will be there all through December. The small town shops with unique Adirondack gifts and Christmas activities throughout the Old Forge community can bring back the magic of the season. Come celebrate in your Adirondack back yard.
